Breaking Georgias National Flag Explained

Breaking: Georgia's National Flag Explained

Symbolism and Design

The Georgian national flag, known as the Five Cross Flag or Gorgasali Flag, is a simple but powerful symbol of the country's history and identity. It consists of a white rectangular background with a large red cross in the center, extending to the edges of the flag. The cross is superimposed with four smaller red crosses, one in each quadrant.

Meaning of the Crosses

The central red cross represents Saint George, the patron saint of Georgia, and symbolizes Christianity, the dominant religion in the country. The four smaller crosses represent the four evangelists: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, and symbolize the spread of Christianity throughout Georgia.
